Please note that I'm not very active on deviantART right now so a lot of notes,invites and even e-mails may go unnoticed for a while.  I'm ignoring any e-mails that request commercial use of any kind as well, I don't have the time to explain over and over what is stated in my Terms of Use ^.^

Stock/Brushes Terms of Use:

1. Please credit if you use the brushes anywhere.

2. Please do not redistribute the brushes on other sites without asking my permission.

3. This is not only an account for resources, my artwork (anything besides brushes, textures etc) cannot be used without my permission.

4. Use is limited to non-commercial, personal use only.  I do not accept compensation and will not work out licensing at this time so please do not count on this when you create a work.  This includes deviantART prints, commercial websites, C.D. covers etc.

5. You do not have to ask permission to use the brushes, just be aware of these terms of use.

_{I'm updating and clarifying these terms of use because of the recent influx of people requesting commercial use despite the rules.  While I appreciate the interest I don't have the time or the interest in selling my brushes, at least not right now.  I made most of them for fun and for the community to use, not to make money.}

I've been sorely neglecting DA lately, but real life has been keeping me away. However I'm not quite ready to pack it up and leave because I still love the site. Because of this I just want to leave a little note to my brush users and watchers:

. I am not currently keeping up with notes.  If it is absolutely urgent e-mail me and I will TRY to get to it.

.Remember no commercial use period.  Don't e-mail me asking for exceptions or deals, I don't make them.  This includes deviantART prints.

Quoted from #resurgere (because it is a great definition) these are some but not all things that are considered commercial:

"DA Prints and other such art prints, advertisements for commercial entities, web design for commercial entities, book covers and art in books, c.d. covers and art in c.d.s, and also in art as part of a portfolio all qualify as commercial projects."

. I am weeding out some brush sets periodically because I'm trying to clean up my gallery since it is currently not being updated; if they go missing please do not send me hate mail asking for them.  It's not going to happen.

Finals are fast approaching so things are fairly hectic right now on my end. I just wanted to give a heads up to those who leave me comments that I might not get back to you right away

Spring CSS and Brush Features

Brush Features

I've been wanting to do this for a while, feature some brush sets from other artists that have caught my eye. These are completely random things I've seen that I like or was impressed with, I didn't really look at downloads or pageviews so they might not be "unknown".

:thumb46851963: Anything by !1lovesdevine just wows me. It was hard to choose but since I used this particular set in my new layout I figured I'd go with this one. Excellent high quality ornamental designs!

by ~DieheArt is a great set, large grungy brushes that are very useful. They also have a great collection of brush sets and I plan to download most of them.

:thumb49508587: I love dashes and dots for layouts and subtle touches on pieces. This is a very useful set by ~madsatsuki.

A huge pack of tear/rain drop brushes by ~SkeIator. I see these as coming in handy.

It's hard to go wrong with a set of large high resolution grunge brushes.

I really can't believe I've never seen this set before! I have to give a nod to this stock too:

, it makes me want to start working on some sci-fi art again.

And how about some stars to sparkle up that sci-fi sky while I'm at it.

Well that's it for now, there seem to be a ton of great brushes popping up lately.

If any of the artists above would like the feature removed let me know and I'll do so asap.

Thanks to all of you who responded willing to answer my questions! I have enough people now thanks to the kind souls who are willing to indulge my questionnaire hehe.

Brush Status Update

All brushes are reuploaded now with a new readme. Some have imagepacks but most don't which should be specified in the artist comments. A project for another day. Comments have also been disabled on all sets except my three newest I believe just to gain some control on comment overload. Nothing really new there but I thought I'd mention it again.

Brush Reoganization

News

Gah sorry for all the journal entries lately guys. But this news is fairly important so I didn't want to update my last journal and have people miss it.

Because of a couple of comments and notes I've gotten about confusion over past read-me's in old brush sets and the latest ripping sprees I've put all but the latest sets in storage. This isn't a permanent move, it's only until I can update the READMEs (I mentioned this a while back but I'm just now getting going with it) I also want to remake the preview images on some of my first sets so they'll look more uniform in my gallery. I'm thinking about adding image packs to all sets as well although that might not happen right away. I anticipate this to be a slow process as I stored 152 brushes

. I figure I don't have an excuse now that I have broadband access at home though

. I anticipate this also being handy as I'm working on revamping my website.

Also, I'm planning on starting to upload the converted GIMP brushes as well. I figured I'd better warn my watchers because there are quite a few of them. I apologize in advance for the clutter. That said, I'm focusing on the photoshop brushes first and I won't upload more than 5 a day of the GIMP sets if that even.

Ripping Sites update

Winart.info has graciously agreed to close until permission is granted for materials poste there. Good for the admin, at least he can admit he made a mistake!

Uploading.com received another complaint from me, maybe this one will reach someone.

Another Rip Site

Update!

I just got this from the owner of winart.info:
"I decided to close Winart, you do not have to worry any more. If it will be again reopen, that will be only when I request the permission from all the authors or that is a site under another concept."

At least he was cooperative!!

Another site, this one stealing everything from deviantART (look at the filenames) ranging from brushes to wallpapers and visual styles and winamp skins.  I posted a notice in the Rip forum here but I thought I'd get a journal out about it too.  The site is winart.info the whois info is here:
[link] gives what I hope is an address that will give me a response.

So far I've found my winter wallpapers on the site as well as my brushes thanks to ~poisonedwaters.   The site is in french, it can be translated to be navigated with google translate as it was sent to me as such.   In a way they "credit" by including the original file names but my brushes for example were included in a pack with four other artist's brushes and no permission was given by me allowing them to post .

Still no action from uploading.com which had hosted my brushes on the Russian site.

Seems like an endless battle lately!

Yet more brush theft

Edit: I've now reported the theft to the site so we'll see if anything is done about it.  I highly doubt it given the other content on the site but it was worth a shot.  Thanks for everyone's help in getting it translated.  A word of warning, be careful if you click the link below, I've heard of some porn popups and such annoying those that did .

I was notified that [link] ripped my Valentine brushes and has them available for mass download.

Problem 1: the site is in russian so I can't tell where to complain to heh

Problem 2: There is a mass of warez links provided on the site so will they care?

Anyhow if anyone can make any more sense of it that I did about where to submit a complaint it would be appreciated.  There is a feedback form in their "disclaimer" but I'm not sure exactly where to go from there.  I'll have a closer look when I get home (I'm at college at the moment and need to rush to class in about 10 minutes).

I didn't check to see if there were more ripped brushes on there so you might be on a look out for your work fellow brush artists, or the works of others.

The first template of my new Stargate CSS has arrived! Thanks to `nyssi for her wonderful templates that got me started with what I had pictured in my head for a classy design. Hopefully I achieved classy!

Now that I have the wonders of broadband I plan to upload the converted GIMP brushes to my gallery. I'm not sure if I'll multipack them to save bombarding watchers or not but to those I've been promising GIMP brushes they should be coming up soon (real life schedule allowing). I don't know if or when it will happen but I also hope to have backups of my brushes on my blogsite eventually.

I'm also working on yet another journal CSS layout. I think I'm addicted to customizing things. Seriously I have a huge folder on my computer filled with Visual Styles and icons so that my desktop changes daily. So why not let that extend to my journal

. You know eventually a stargate version will pop up. In any case I want to try out some of the tricks I've found in various news articles around here

I also hope to be posting more brushes and art. I've had a bit of a dry spell but I've been lurking around viewing some beautiful art around the site that has given me a bit of a boost. Anyhow just letting you all know that even though my posting has slowed down I'm still very much attached to this site

Brushes Ripped

I just wanted to let my watchers know that if they run across my brushes on Adobe Exchange that I have not placed them there; they have been posted without my permission.

I got an e-mail from someone today asking to use my brushes on a project, that they had downloaded them from Adobe Exchange[link] whoever posted them wasn't smart enough to remove my signature stamp from the file with my e-mail info (all the more reason to include it brush makers! heh).

So if you happen to run into them on that site an e-mail with a link would be appreciated so I can report it (or if you report it all the better). I'm not calling for a massive manhunt since apparently I'm still being credited but just if anyone happens to download/have downloaded in the past one of my brushes on there. I'm not sure how that particular site handles things however. As long as I'm being credited I'm not too upset about it in any case

Also be aware of torrent sites distributing brushes and resources. I found some of mine in a pack on torrentspy the other day. Fortunately there are few people looking for brushes on a torrent site so the seeding was next to 0.

Just another one of those things that makes you sigh and wonder about people

. I *hope* to be updating my old brush sets with a static README and stamp soon as some of the old sets contain old info. Just thought I'd get this mini rant/info out there for all of you resource artists.

PS: This current journal CSS is a WIP so a few things have yet to be smoothed out

A more elegant CSS, and a nice wintery theme (sorry Kita, the SG one will have to wait hehe).  Hopefully the white isn't too blinding, if it is I'll add a box like the one I have around the brush rules.

I hope to finally be able to post some stuff over Thanksgiving weekend.  I've made some Windows OS snowflake icons that I'm thinking of posting and I have some brush ideas that I want to attempt to make.  We'll see how the reading/homework for class stacks up!

Speaking of brushes, I've used the set below for this journal layout (the background behind the tree).  Check out these amazing vector brushes and 1lovesdevine's other beautiful sets.

_{Well I've finally rid myself of AOL and 56k! I'm still basking in the download speeds of broadband. Hopefully this will get me off my arse and making some more brushes and art to post now that upload speeds won't be painful}

Retiring PS7
_{Speaking of brushes, I've decided to retire using PS7 as my brush making program. However, I will be posting image packs for those with versions less than CS. My PS7 has been acting buggy in any case, and I've been holding off using CS for a while now. Again, no worries about compatibility because of image packs. I still anticipate many complaints about this change!}

I just have to say a HUGE thank you to `kuschelirmel for suggesting "I see Music" as a DD and `Aeires for actually selecting it!

I logged on and figured it was a dA5 glitch when it said I had 432 messages .  Thanks in advance for the favs, I'll get through the comments as quickly as I can .

And those wanting a wallpaper I'll see what I can do.  I did render a gold version in 1280x1024 so I can't promise bigger than that but when I get a chance I might post it.

Apologies for the "Squee!!", I had a moment.
